1/4/22 Mission Call Antofagasta, Chili

 1/4/22.  Katie has been working for months to submit her papers to go on a mission. She finally got the turned in and then we waited...and waited...and waited.   She originally thought she would be leaving in January so she was not going to go to BYU however as things worked out her call didn't get submitted until December so she decided to risk it and enroll in BYU and see what happened. The day after school started at about 5 p.m. the long-awaited text arrived saying her call was in her email.

We FaceTimed and gathered (she was in Provo, we were in St. George, Dallas was in SLC) and she read the letter. When she said where she was going the sound went out for a sec and all of us remote people we like...what? where?  And everyone on location was yelling and cheering and didn't know we didn't know! haha

Her call was Antofagasta, Chili, starting MTC online on April 25, 2022 (at home) and going to the Mexico MTC a couple weeks later. Leaving for Chili in June. 


The mission correlated almost exactly with the semester (BYU ends April 20). So Katie decided to stay up there and continue her college life. She had sold her contract. She tried to get it back but eventually decided to live with Bryce and Marlee renting a room in Provo and commuting to BYU daily. She will also work at Crumble cookie but hopefully not too many hours. 

She is so excited!

Holaaaa!  I'm gonna do this a little differently... here's this week's highlights!  -Tuesday we went to Antofa for a conference and to say  goodbye  to  presidente   y   hermana   Larsen !! I got to see the Hermanas who picked me up at the airports and met a bunch of people who maybe I'll talk to again later and maybe not!! We had pizza which is a super important detail, and on the bus we watched Cars and another movie I can't remember what it's called. Overall a good time.  -Wednesday we got completos :)  -Thursday we had a zone FHE and we were in charge! We also had a super long phone call with our friend Billy and got him set up to be baptized on the 16th... and we think this time is different and is not gonna fall through    -Friday we had a gospel principles class... but no one showed up, including the teacher... so then when one person did show up, us and the Elders taught her the 4th lesson in preparation for her baptism...

04/30/22 First week of Home MTC!

Katelyn Griffin Sat, Apr 30, 11:03 PM (6 days ago) Hola a todos!!!  It has been a crazy week! I've met a ton of new people, felt the spirit a TON, and I now know, like, twice as much Spanish as I did a week ago (so still not that much ;) Here are some of the highlights:  Monday I got to meet my compañera, and she is  amazing!  She's from Manti, Utah, and I don't know how else to explain this, but I feel like I vibe with her. She's bubbly and sweet, and she seems to really love the gospel and wants to work hard. I can't wait to get to know her more!!  A couple days in, I got to know my district a bit more, and I am so impressed by these people! I was anxious about going "late," since most missionaries, it seems like, go out as soon as they turn 18 or 19, but most of my group is older than the minimum age, which is a comfort to me :)  One of the days, I wrote this in my journal: "One thing I've noticed about being a missionary so far is how much mor...

02/28/23 10 months

  Hello hi how's it goin its so laaaaate, so imma make this maybe a little more short and sweet!!  We had zone conference early in the weekend which was pretty good... except that it went long so we didn't get to do interviews and we had to RUN to the bus... good times   (side note I'm currently writing this from a bus on the way to copiapo AGAIN because we have exchanges tomorrow with the hermanas here.) Also, got told to do a musical number again... on the bus ride on the way to copiapo... so had to figure that one out in like less than 12 hours haheha. A little organization would be cool but like it's fine. We sang I need thee every hour (me and my compi) and it turned out pretty good (there was a weird thing with the piano but no importa!!)  A little later in the week we had our ups and downs, like one day we found this little family who are so golden!!
