Hola!! This   week   I was   literally   soooo   busy . It feels like I'm running around left and right, 24/7, never getting a moment to breathe... every day I have classes from 9-12, then lunch, then gym time (typically running 2 miles in under 15 minutes :) and then yoga for me), then clean up and study time, and then more classes from 4-7, dinner from 7-7:30, and more class from 7:30-9, and get ready for bed from 9-10:30. In other words, we have almost no free time ever...which is fine!! Just a little stressful.  A few highlights from this  week :  We got rain (!!!!) a couple days ago and it was a glorious sight... it doesn't rain in my mission, so whatever rain I get here will be the last I'll see for 17 months. Aaaaannnnddd.... the wind and rain and general storminess knocked over a tree... ONTO a house!!! Two houses down from mine!! So overall very exciting. The girls who lived there had just moved out the weekend before so that was a little miracle. It didn't act

Hermana Griffin at MTC Good news! I can run 2 kilometersin 14.30 minutes!!! ALSO, my favorite thing I've done so far is today during gym time (after running two miles in less than 15 minutes ;) some new missionaries and me and my comp did Zumba to EFY music!!! It was so fun!!!! Dad says you have pictures to send to me... so send them 😝 other good news, my stomach has settled, granted I haven't been eating any meat that isn't processed like crazy all weekend but hey, progress is progress! Yesterday was a good day and today has been great! It's a combination of things (and Saturday was truly truly terrible) but I think it's getting better here... buuuutt I still can't wait to leave. Lots of love-hna griffin

05/19/22 Week 1 away from home

Hola a todos!  The  past   couple   weeks   has   been   crazy   crazy   crazy !! I cant believe how much  has  happened already   Tuesday may 10 I left my parents (sad day for my mom's birthday to be on) at the airport and got to meet 5/8 of my district when I arrived in the airport... we also adopted an elder who didn't have any of his district there, he's an honorary member of 10c now. Many flights and talking and sitting and being exhausted later... we finally got to the airport in Mexico city!!! Except then we had to wait like 2 hours for 3 missionaries to get off a plane...and then we had a 45 minute long bus ride and arrived at the CCM around  5. There was an amazing talk that night by Jeffrey r Holland, I took really profound notes, but off the top of my head I could not tell you what it was about, I was literally so exhausted and jet lagged. Also on that night I met a latina missionary and she  has  since become one of my dearest friends here. My Spanish isn't

05/18/22 Fractured thumb for comp

Image
So like generally speaking... im pretty darn modest right??? Like you saw my 8 outfits i brought right?? I have been dress coded now 3 times!!! Including the pair of pants that you and i have twinsies of (which there is a picture of the exact same on the missionary website oyyy) so the problem is i only have like 8 warm weather outfits and i cant wear 3 of them... idk what to do except im leaning towards wearing that black and white dress every day from when i got set apart.  So besides that its been a pretty good couple of days. My comp fractured her thumb when we were playing volleyball and needed x rays (hence the tour around mexico city), and i got to sing the the coro (choir) yesterday, all in español!! Its ridiculously busy here and they give us like 1000 assignments to do outside of class... but class takes up like 8-10 hours every day and we have 1-1.5 hours of exercise, 2 hours ish to get food in the cafeteria and a lot of walking which takes a lot of time... also theyre makin

To: US and Canadian Missionaries who have received their mission call and will train at the Mexico MTC Cc: Stake Presidents and approved family contacts From: Mexico Missionary Training Center  Subject: COVID-19 Protocols at the Mexico MTC  Dear Sister Griffin,  The Missionary Department has recently approved adjustments to COVID protocols related to MTC training. 05/13/22 Letter to the Branch President

Hermana Griffin, Hermana Mickelson in baby blue   Hola!  My past tense in Spanish is terrible/non-existent so I will do this in English!!  The most spiritual experience I have had this week was when I was put in a small group to discuss and teach. I was placed with an Elder and we got talking about the repentance process from some scriptures. It was very uplifting and we were able to both deepen our testimonies and understanding of repentance through this experience.  My comp and I get along well enough, but in one way or another, we have both been sick the entire time we have been here. It's frustrating to be the sick comp, and it's frustrating to have a sick comp, so it's been a bit frustrating all week. We are both feeling better as of this morning, however, and I can see things getting so much better for us both.  This week I have learned soooo many new Spanish words and phrases, and it kind of makes my brain hurt, however, I know the more I practice, the more I will be

5/12/22 Arrived at the Mexico MTC

Quote of the week: " For a p day I feel like I didn't get to do a lot of p-ing" - Katie St. George Airport, about 6 a.m.  waiting for flight Selfie -- sent Katie a good bye from Dad and Mom!!!! Early morning flight - heading out the front door! Hey mom, just wanted to let you know I made it... I also hate Mexican keyboards... things are in the wrong place!  It sounds like they're counting today as our p day... so i won't get to talk to you until a week from Thursday ughh. but it's ok. It's been a super long day-flights were lengthy but I met lots of cool people. I also was able to get to know some sisters in my district a little better. I can't wait to actually get into the work, this ccm seems like a lot of rules that aren't really a thing in the field.  For a p day I feel like I didn't get to do a lot of p-ing ! hahaha. Also, I would kill to be in non-fancy clothes. Buuuuuttttt it's fine. I hope you have had an amazing birthday and I'

05/07/22 Week Two MTC Highlights

Image
Katie didn't write about week two but she took some fun pictures. I'll explain the pictures the best I can. Katie sneaked a ride on the twin's wiggle car.  We got Ellie and DJ wiggle cars for their 2nd birthday. The cars were left unattended in the living room while Katie had home MTC. During one of her breaks, she decided to give it a spin! (shhh...don't tell!!!! She is WAY too big for those cars!!!!)
