Hola a todos!!!
It has been a crazy week! I've met a ton of new people, felt the spirit a TON, and I now know, like, twice as much Spanish as I did a week ago (so still not that much ;) Here are some of the highlights:
Monday I got to meet my compañera, and she is amazing! She's from Manti, Utah, and I don't know how else to explain this, but I feel like I vibe with her. She's bubbly and sweet, and she seems to really love the gospel and wants to work hard. I can't wait to get to know her more!!
A couple days in, I got to know my district a bit more, and I am so impressed by these people! I was anxious about going "late," since most missionaries, it seems like, go out as soon as they turn 18 or 19, but most of my group is older than the minimum age, which is a comfort to me :)
One of the days, I wrote this in my journal: "One thing I've noticed about being a missionary so far is how much more grateful I am for all the people in my life and the things they do for me. Even the little things, a text to see how MTC is going, a phone call about whatever gossip is happening, a note left on my mirror–– I can't believe how blessed I am to be surrounded by people who love ME! And how much more blessed am I to have a Savior and a Heavenly Father who love ME!"
On Friday evening, I was with my mom going for a walk, when suddenly she remembered she needed to get something from Walmart! We finished our walk early, so we could go to Walmart, and on our way inside the store, we ran into the Spanish Sister Missionaries here in St. George!!!!!! They noticed me by my nametag and started chatting with me, and it was SO GOOD to talk to some sisters in the field!! They invited me to go to church with them in the Spanish branch (I'm going to!!) and invited me to come to a class where they teach English to Spanish speakers. I am SO excited to spend some more time with them and learn about the work here in my hometown.
P day in HMTC is Saturday, and it was a really great day: I went to a parade, I went on a hike, I cooked a fancy dinner, I hung out with my grandpa, I did some shopping... all in one beautiful day! It was so good to not be staring at a screen all day!!!
Below I have some pictures from this week :)
I love you all! I'm so grateful for the opportunity I have to serve a mission and to do the Lord's work!
