06/10/22 Letter from Mission President -- Katie has arrived!

Dear Missionary Family,

This letter is to inform you that your missionary has arrived safely to Antofagasta. Sister Larsen and I are very grateful to be here to be able to serve with the missionaries in the work of the Lord. We know that you are concerned for their well-being and happiness here in the mission. Every one of these servants of the Lord is precious to us.

I have an interview with each Elder and Sister soon after their arrival. This is an opportunity to get to know them better and welcome them to Chile. These visits are important for every missionary as they are for me personally. Sister Larsen also welcomes each missionary with much love.

Preparation Day is every Monday. Your missionary will have the opportunity to communicate with you and your immediate family between 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., Chilean time zone. The missionaries have the blessing to be able to communicate weekly with you. We encourage you to ask questions about their mission and allow them to share their testimonies and experiences. This positive communication will help you support them, and will be a blessing to you and your family.

We emphasize the communication according to “Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Crist.” As the manual states, your missionary should only have conversations on Preparation Days. Your missionary can use whatever type of communication that works for your family, such as email, Google Hangouts, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, etc. Also, we encourage your missionary to call on Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Parents Birthdays. Other occasions need permission from President Larsen. Communication with other family and friends will only be used by email and letters.

If there’s an emergency and you need to speak with your missionary you can, communicate with the mission +56 9 5858 0966, or send an email 2012375@churchofjesuschrist.org. There is a mission Facebook page that we invite you to follow as well.

Thank you for your support and prayers for your missionary. A mission is a wonderful opportunity for your son or daughter to strengthen their testimony and love for the savior, as they share his gospel with the humble people of Northern Chile.

Con amor,
President and Harmana Larsen
