10/21/23 Homecoming!

 

Warm welcome to Hermana Griffin at the St George airport: 
2:50 p.m. on Saturday, October 21, 2023
She got to meet three babies she prayed here!

After arrival we went to the St George temple for a quick photo. Then home for a couple minutes. At 5 p.m. to the Stake President's office to get released. We got a Don Pedro Party Platter for dinner and then everybody went to bed. 7:30 a.m. on Sunday Katie reported to the Stake President and Council. There were about a dozen people in the room. She bore testimony and told a little about her experience. 

Later in Sacrament Meeting she was called up to receive her plaque and give another brief testimony. She will report officially on her mission in Sacrament Meeting on Sunday, November 12 at 11:30 a.m. 



































The first thing Katie wanted to do upon arrival to St George was go to the St George temple to take a picture while she was still a missionary.

04/30/22 First week of Home MTC!

I've met a ton of new people, felt the spirit a TON, and I now know, like, twice as much Spanish as I did a week ago (so still not that much ;) Here are some of the highlights:  Monday I got to meet my compañera, and she is  amazing!  She's from Manti, Utah, and I don't know how else to explain this, but I feel like I vibe with her. She's bubbly and sweet, and she seems to really love the gospel and wants to work hard. I can't wait to get to know her more!!  A couple days in, I got to know my district a bit more, and I am so impressed by these people! I was anxious about going "late," since most missionaries, it seems like, go out as soon as they turn 18 or 19, but most of my group is older than the minimum age, which is a comfort to me :)  One of the days, I wrote this in my journal: "One thing I've noticed about being a missionary so far is how much mor

09/18/23 Transferred again! I'll be dying in Iquique

 Hiii  I officially have served in every city in the mission except for one!  Here's my classic list of things that have happened in the past *cough cough* two weeks  -cambios----> I got transferred  again!! I'm in a city called Iquique in the sector Playa Brava!! It's a beach side city and we live in an apartment that's literally on the beach, in fact we have a private beach   buuuut it's all hills and mountains in the actual sector, so I'll be going home super in shape   I actually showed up on Thursday and on Sunday we had a baptism so I guess missionary work is good here!!  These first few days we've had to climb and then go back down two or three times a day!! It's about 35 min of just climbing uphill. I'm a little bit exhausted hehe  -18 sep --> so 18 de septiembre is Chilean independence day and they go craaazzyy! 06/12/23 Soup.

  It is a well known fact about me that I'm not really a soup person (or maybe it's not that well known but, for the time being let's assume it's a well known fact about me that I'm not a huge fan of soup).  And... soup in northern chile is exactly the kind of soup that I'm not a fan of. Water based or lentil based, with a lot of salt and very little of anything else. I mean, yeah obviously there's vegetables and usually chicken or beef, but the point is the only flavor is of salt.  And when someone is sick, what is the thing that everyone brings to said sick person?  Soup.  (In case you haven't guessed yet... I got sick this week haha)  Here's the story:  Monday and Tuesday I was completely fine.
