06/02/22 "Last week of school" except the final exam is 17 months in a foreign country

¡Que pasaaaa!
I'm just about finished with my time here in Mexico and beyond excited to head out to Chile!!!! For all of your info, i fly out Monday night at 9:25pm mexico city time, and I will arrive in Antofagasta tuesday around 11:30am chile time (8hr flight, 3hr layover in santiago, 2hr flight, 1hr time difference). My flight from Mexico city to santiago has 621 people on it and is 12 seats across which is by far the biggest plane I've ever been on and kinda blows my mind!!!
This past week has been crazy with a million and one things going on at once. Our zone got 2 new districts and they're so sweet. I met a young man who will be serving in st george spanish speaking, and a girl from santaquin who knows or knows of AJ and bec (it's unclear which haha).

My favorite spiritual moment this week was Sunday night, we watched a devo by elder holland and it was so inspiring. He talked about the importance of loving and knowing and listening to the people we are teaching. Listening to it really truly made me feel fired up to go find and teach people.
Oh and my other favorite spiritual moment this week is from the president of the CCM. He showed us a trash can and invited us to mentally put sins we have repented of, insecurities, etc. into the garbage can... and he said the Savior will take it out. We need to LET him take it out. And any time we find ourselves feeling worthless, unworthy, unable, or insufficient, we need to remember where we left those things. We need to remember that He took the trash out, and we need to keep ourselves from digging around in the dumpster.
After that discussion with the president, I had a really good (really long :) conversation with a sister in my casa. She and I have similar stories in ways that I won't go into here, and I feel so strongly that she is a familiar face... but I know I haven't met her. I think the way it's put in Anne of Green Gables, is I feel like we are kindred spirits. I have never met someone as kind-hearted, genuinely happy, and good at listening as her. I think one of the hardest parts of a mission is meeting wonderful people, and God gives you the capacity to love them more quickly and more fully than ever before... just for them to be pulled away after a few short weeks. That's not to say I'll never see any of them again, but even if I will see them right after my mission, it feels like an awful long time right now. This same sister made me a little gift that I absolutely treasure... she is talented in metal bending! I will attach a picture below. (She meant it to be anonymous but I mean how many people do you know who bend metal??
)

This morning I had the opportunity to go to the Mexico city temple again, and I am so so grateful to have been able to go there. Before we did a session, a missionary serving in the visitor center taught us about charity and how much we need to love the people in order to have the spirit and in order for our message to get through to them. It was really powerful and I feel edified and replenished having been there.
In other news, I saw a pineapple truck on the road when we were on our way home from the temple which, personally, I think is pretty cool (and I'm willing to bet dad will too ;) and also on Sunday I got to hold a parrot (WHATT) (Don't worry mom I washed my hands after)
Earlier this week my parents got me a beautiful dress that is covered in Mexican embroidery (picture below), and I am going to wear it this Sunday when my district performs our going-away song (I think we're doing armies of helaman?? I really should figure that out though since I'm playing piano hahaha)
ok ok ok I have so much more to say but I don't have time so that's all for now!!!
Love you all so muchhh
xoxo hna griffin
